BOO SAVILLE is an artist from the UK that has all of my attention. She has a primitive touch that intrigues me. The way she draws skulls is breathtaking – they almost seem like they are alive in death. Check out some of my favorite pieces from her. Also read what inspires BOO below.
“For me, intuition and experience are the bread and butter of my practice. It manifests in many forms whether I am scouring the Internet for images and books or mixing paint and playing around with materials. I love exploring through materials and playing with them in the studio. This is how I find where to go next. It is vital for me trust my instincts as it is the unconscious mind trying to understand and control the physical world around me. Being an artist relies heavily on hard work and accepting the possibility of failure. You can work for a year only to find you have a couple of things to show but sometimes you can produce the best work of your life in a couple of hours. I suppose the creative process is completely different for everyone but I see being an artist is like being an athlete or learning to play an instrument. The more you work, the better and easier the ideas come along. My work is a mirror to me and it can be an overwhelming experience to see what you really are when you look at your own work. If you are listening to your intuition this is always the best path, even if the work fails.”
