RIP Mad Eric, 1972 – 2019
Death, Magic, Supernatural, Nature, Beauty, Sex, Power, Infinity, Future, Filth, Reality, and Fantasy are only some of the words that come to mind when I stare at the art of Mad Eric. This Bay Area creative created work that has so many layers of unreal imagination that every time I look at his stuff I see something new. He illustrated collages that almost are like novels with no beginning or end. You can see and feel the influence of the punk and metal underground, but there is also a surreal quality to his work that is hard to put into words. Mad Eric showed how insane this world we live in really is and he said things that many people could never say with their words! What inspires me about what he did is how much passion and thought he put into each piece. Looking at Eric’s work is like taking a hit of really strong weed out of a gas mask.
