Dear Vulture Feather,
I want y’all to new that your new album It Will Be Like Now (coming out via the always rad Felte Records) is by far one of my favorite album of 2025!!! With each listen, I get full body chills and songs like “Into Space” does just that โ sends my whole being into space. As I get down to the sounds of “Flesh And Electronics,” I remember walking to work as the sun came up when I lived in Seattle around 2000. I would look at my surroundings and wonder if my life ever change; which it did, for the better.
Vulture Feather’s music is full of emotion and forces you to look at your inner self. The question is, will you like who is looking back at you. “Calling From Afar” is a tune that gets deep down into my soul and makes me think about my mother, who I lost recently. I want the vocalist of this band to know that his tone is otherworldy. Imagine if Lungfish, Pinback, Red Star Theory, and Sunny Day Real Estate decided to create a sonic love child, Vulture Feather just might be that child. But honestly, they are in a zone that is truly their own.
With everything that is happening in the world right now, bands like this can help push the planetary vibration to higher heights! As a unit, I can hear that these humans have united to manifest emotional soundscapes that they are all passionate about. The magic of It Will Be Like Now is that even when their are no vocals, the music will speak to you if you are willing to listen! I’m honored to be sharing with y’all their new video for their song “Flesh And Electronics.” Vulture Feather is touring the west coast soon and you can peep the dates below. In closing, I want the band to know that we over here at CVLT Nation appreciate them!
Across It Will Be Like Now, death is a preoccupation, not as something wholly morbid, but as a mere fact that illuminates every waking hour. The impressionistic lyrics of โFlesh and Electronicsโ speak of โThe first of your last daysโ, and other allusions to impermanence, as weighty, locked-in guitar strums summon an imposing grandeur with a bleeding heart at its core. Colin McCann sings from a primal place, facing his existential questions: What is the nature of appearances? Where is the line at which the individual ends and others begin? In the context of such thundering, richly harmonic music, Vulture Feather creates a contrast as striking as the song title suggests.
