THE DARK RED SEED is a musical project made up of members Tosten Larson, guitarist for King Dude, and Shawn Fleming, and the music they create is a dark, haunting Americana that will stick with you after only one listen. Their debut EP entitled The Dark Red Seed Stands with Death is set to release on Prophecy on Sept. 15th (pre-order here) and I can only imagine the richness and depth of their sound on vinyl! Today we’re excited to be premiering the video for their song “The Antagonist,” a meditation on the authorities that we hand power, specifically in the United States, and how that power corrupts – the very people we entrust with the responsibility to keep us safe and happy instead destroy us. Enjoy the video below, and read a quote from Larson about the concept of death behind the three songs on this EP.
I know when death comes for me I will most likely run away with blind fear,” Larson says. “I’m sure when death comes, I will almost certainly cling to life until my dying breath and pray to someone else’s god for salvation. But in life, I try to approach death as the ultimate acceptance. Whatever death and a possible life thereafter means to each individual, death is the only place where we might find answers. For in life there are only questions. Death is the one thing that awaits us all. – Tosten Larson
