My heart cries and my spirit screams at the world’s pain, but I find the sonic healing energy I need in the new VIDE EP Decorated in Spiderweb. If you are an avid reader of CVLT Nation, then you know that I’m a HUGE fan of this band and that they can do no wrong in my book because they are that fucking awesome! I can’t front, they are taking it to another level with this record. The way that they are balancing the dirge of Death Rock, the black bliss of Shoegaze, and the dead statues of Black Metal is perfect! “Walk like a ghost” is a morbid anthem that will creep around your brain with each listen.
VIDE is manifesting some unreal, intense audio atmosphere on every song, and that’s a big time fact. The vocalist’s croak is freaking rad and keeps me saying, damn, this band is epic. Musically, the whole band is in the pocket. I’m telling you, the breakdowns that are full of empathy keep me coming back to Decorated in Spiderweb. The EP closes with “Decorated in Spiderweb,” and as I listen to this song I’m reminded that VIDE are bigger than just one genre or scene โ they simply create beyond awesome music for us all to enjoy in this fucked up time we are living in.
Honestly, my heart hurts when it comes to Black Metal because even though it’s music I love, there are so many weak-minded people who are either racist or will look the other way when it comes to racism in this genre! I find solace in knowing that VIDE is racism-free black metal.
