When I feel like creeping around at night, slinking through shadows and gliding through grime, I can’t think of a better soundtrack than THEO VANDENHOFF. This Toronto band has the perfect balance of rock ‘n roll sleeze and post punk melancholy. These songs are heavy and driving, percussive and melodic, songs you can do a manic dance to or drown your sorrows to. Listening to these brings me back to an era of post-punk I wasn’t able to experience first hand, but it feels just a real as if I had. Imagine if Echo and the Bunnymen was jamming with Christian Death and Bauhaus in a mausoleum and the dusty, rotting corpses rose up to dance โ that’s what’s happening in my brain while I listen to THEO VANDENHOFF.
