The Fascinating World of SUBDERMAL IMPLANTS

The human body really is an amazing thing. The way that we regenerate may not be as impressive as an amphibian bringing back a limb or tail, but we can watch our flesh and skin knit back together pretty impressively after an injury. We can stuff silicone and silicon and metal into our bodies and it heals itself around these foreign objects, making them ours. There’s a growing community of people who are placing RFID chips and silicone under their skin, also known as subdermal implants. While the first documented subdermal implant was done by Phoenix body modification artist Steve Haworth in 1994, there is historical evidence of the Myanmar peoples inserting objects under the skin. Today, subdermal implants can be in the form of beading or ribs, horns, magnets, spiders, hearts, and anything you can imagine should be poking out from under your skin. Some do it to look freaky, others do it to transcend their human body, even if just a little bit. Check out this gallery of subdermal implants:
