Step into the Electronic Forcefield of SWAYA “EXistence”

Every day there are new things to care about and new things to ignore. It’s easy to ignore your own life while you obsessively consume someone else’s…that’s why projects like SWAYA‘s new EXistence EP help me make sense of reality. Her amorphously organized sonics engulf my head and body in an electronic womb and tie me to the mother, my mother, my existence. This music undulates around me like my impenetrable energy field, keeping me safe while it simultaneously reminds me that nothing is real. It’s more of a sonic environment than it is music. Her EXistence EP is out today, May 5th, via PTP Records — get it here. Right now, sit back and enter the electronic world of SWAYA’s title track “EXistence” below…

The synthesis of winter 2021 lockdown experiments in sampling bossa nova, indie rock and personal fragments to find a language of healing. A quest for groundedness in her inner world amidst global and internal upheaval.

Meghan MacRae grew up in Vancouver, Canada, but spent many years living in the remote woods. Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey. She is co-founder of CVLT Nation.
