As the world seems to get crazier and crazier, I find myself wanting to sink into the meditative atmosphere of music and sound. Even better if I can gaze into our natural world and remind myself that Mother Nature is a bigger force than anything human beings can create and she will always reclaim her power when it’s time. Right now I’m listening to and watching SPLIT MOON‘s new video for their dingle “More Clouds,” and it’s taking me far off into a higher perspective as my mind flies on their psychedelic shoegaze. Their sound is dreamy and high, fuzzy and languid, and it’s the perfect soundtrack and visual for looking at the timeline of humanity and reminding myself that one day all of us will be free among the stars. “It’s”More Clouds” is off their upcoming record More Clouds More Stars that’s out via Ghost Tower Records on March 7th — get it here. Split Moon will be hitting the road soon, so stay tune to them here for dates. Right now we’re lucky to be sharing their video for “More Clouds” with y’all, so take a deep breath and hit play on it here:
Guitarist/vocalist Mark Starr (Insight, The Gimmicks) has led the band through shifting lineups with a droning wall-of-sound and hazy, melodic riffs guiding the way. Their new album More Clouds More Stars expands the sound to combine Stooges/MC5 fuzz rock, kosmiche/krautrock rhythms, spaced-out slowcore epics, and saturated noise pop in a seductive sonic attack.
