Too many times, I’ve seen friends with all the luxury in the world suffer because no matter what material items they can afford to throw in their void nothing fills it up. Because our culture hasn’t figured out yet that real, tangible, physical presence in each other’s lives is what makes a good quality of life. Look at the grinning, stuffed and puffed, shiny motherfuckers rocketing themselves off to space or Dubai — these people are some of the emptiest, most miserable humans to exist. And yet, their press machines work overtime to make us envy them. SELF IMPROVEMENT knows what I’m talking about because they live in one of the world’s epicentres of masks and empty consumption. In L.A., I would see so many people wearing wealth and status on their frozen, distorted faces, and yet they were always scowling.
