What do you know about eating sugar sandwiches and drinking sugar water? What do you know about finding roach eggs in your Rice Krispies cereal? What do you know about running up a tab with your neighborhood candy lady? What do you know about Project Life and the ups and downs that come with it? What you know about slap boxing with your homie until the next thing you know you are fighting? What do you know about bumping PACO PANAMA all day long, because his world play speaks to your youth growing up in Savannah, GA?
His album 1008 Grams, out now via FXCK RXP, is full of ghetto tales that I can relate to. “Hustler Musik (feat. Fat Yee)” is a straight street anthem that gives me the chill because I can relate to the pain that flows through the track. PACO PANAMA has a slow flow like southern syrup, and is full of flavor like a pot of Hoppin’ John on New Year’s Day. His beat-picking skills are immaculate and create a cinematic vibe throughout 1008 Grams. I also want to give this brother’s crew props, because all of his features only add to the allure of this album. PACO PANAMA speaks coke rap, but it goes deeper than that. When I hear bangers like “In 2 Deep (feat. Chris Bo & Deemuney),” I get inspired to get on my grind and say, fuck the system, the world is mine โ plus the beat is fucking bonkers! In a world that’s filled with microwave rap, PACO PANAMA is a slow-cooked Soul Food meal that will give you the mental nourishment to go out and get yours!

Yo PACO, if you read this, keep doing you, my brother, and make sure you keep releasing vinyl. What do you know about speaking for those who don’t have a voice? Good job, Panama, the world is yours.
