As the world spins on its axis of Pain & Grief I find my solace in the apocalyptic Death Doom of MORAST’s soon-to-be-released LP Fentanyl via VAN Records. Over the course of 6 mammoth tracks, this band shows the world that they are on some next level vibes! Imagine if Fields of Nephlim decided to shapeshift into Dead Congregation before transforming into another world, the outcome would only be half as rad as MORAST. What I respect about these humans is the way they have been able create a very distinct sonic storm that is all of their own! When I hear songs like “Walls Come Closer,” I question my own internal isolation that sometimes stops me from seeing light around me. I know for a fact that this band creates from a place of Blackened passion that allows them to say “fuck the world!” This fact is evident on the song “On Pyre” — as I inhale this tune, I have visions of black candles burning in my skull, illuminating my darkest thoughts. As the world spins on its axis of Pain & Grief, I will be blasting MORAST’s Fentanyl til the end of time!
