The Gorgeous Art of Robert Bishop

Robert Bishop was known by many as “The Rembrandt of Bondage.” He became known as an illustrator of covers for House of Milan during the 1970s and 80s and was the artistic mind behind the Fanni Hall comics. He worked in pencil and airbrush, which gives his pieces a soft texture and almost 3D appearance. Most of the originals were lost or destroyed, and his work was out of print by the mid-1990s, after his death by suicide in 1991 at the age of 46. Bishop “invented” gags and restraints for his mostly female subs. As a result, his work was rejected by an earlier employer, Harmony Publications, who didn’t think he was aligned with their values. House of Milan let him explore his fantasies, and below you can see some of the amazing work he did during his career.

Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey.
