Between the Gods and the Beasts… RUCO Tattoo Spotlight

Simone Ruco

“Mankind is poised midway between the gods and the beasts.” This quote from Egyptian philosopher Plotinus comes to my mind when I look at the work of Italian tattooist Ruco. He free hands the most beautiful and wild blackwork tattoos, imagery that looks straight out of a medieval manuscript. Beasts, demons and gods rendered in solid black ink screaming off of a skin canvas. Based out of Hard Work Tattoo in Rome, Ruco’s tattoos would be recognizable anywhere in the world they travel. Below is a collection of his most recent work posted via his Instagram, and he also has artwork for sale on his webstore here.

Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey.
