You’ll love standout track, Overdose, for its monster girth and gurgling bellow. The bass is amped on this album and it helps a lot. This is dirty, sewage-seeped death metal for those who like their music stinky, sweaty, and well-done in the worst ways known to alt rockers.
It’s a short album and it begs for repeats. I challenge you Swedeath metal lovers to turn a deaf ear on Gatecreeper. They’re not innovative, technical or melodic, but they add a huge chunk of hardcore stomp to Swedeath in a way that just can’t be taken for granted. With faster tempos, Gatecreeper sounds like an aural abattoir for mere mortals. Opener, “Void,” softens the walls of your apartment before the next three tracks level the place to leave you homeless. When the double bass drum kicks into high gear, you’ll feel immersed in a dense wall of sound.
