Hear the Shoegaze Western of CLOAKROOM ‘Last Leg of the Human Table’ + Tour Dates

I’ve listened to Cloakroom‘s last record Dissolution Wave more times than I can count over the past couple of years. Now they’re returning with Last Leg of the Human Table via Closed Casket Activities on February 28th — pre-order it here and stream it here. It’s more grounded than Dissolution Wave, it’s feet planted in the fertile indie soil of bands I used to pine away to, like Band of Horses, but still reaching into the heavens with atmospheric shoegaze fuzz and eerie aurora-like riffs. I’m drifting in between genres seamlessly, feeling “Bad Larry” lean into the magical country plains of their home state, while “Story of the Egg” picks up with heavy doomgaze put into overdrive. “Unbelonging” is the perfect balance of the two, and my favorite of the three singles they’ve released so far…dreamy vocals, warm melodies, and a thumping beat that sweep me up in a sonic embrace that I really need in order to remember that as much as humans suck, we’re also awesome. Last Leg of the Human Table is going to get me through the next 3 years until they release the next one.
