As soon as I saw the blinding collage pop surrealism of CHEMICAL MESSIAH I was instantly hooked. He plays in the fetid and festering territory where religion and patriotism meet bloodshed and death, and he points out their stark contrast and similarity in each piece. We would die for our country, we would die for our beliefs; we want peace in our countries, we preach peace from our pulpits. The most holy messages broadcast from the fiery pits of hell. Every beautiful thing hides death, and every death hides peace. All of these ideas jump out at me from each delicate and brightly-colored piece, screaming at me to see the contradiction, to confront the cultural cognitive dissonance. Even the way Chemical Messiah pairs the Renaissance with the Golden Age, bringing religion and patriotism together into one, cultish image โ it’s unsettling, disturbing, and brilliant.
CHEMICAL MESSIAH wants his artwork on your record, and I do, too. If you’re looking for some sick ready made or custom album art, you can contact him via Instagram DM or email [email protected].
