Petrified Against the Emanation unleashes a levitating orb of chaos that hovers above the listener casting an immense and hideous shadow. There isn’t only the iconic sound of Chilean extreme metal in this monster, the whole work reeks and seethes with the careful interweaving of all the band’s influences that include both ancestral and recent American and European black and death metal bands alike, including Incantation, Blasphemy, Krypts, Katharsis, Cultes Des Ghoules and more. The sound oscillates dangerously between thrashy and black metal-derived war-injected assaults (think early Sepultura, or their Chilean black/thrash peers mentioned above) to ominous death-doom-like dirges of dark, crushing, and suffocating ambiance, which allineates Chaos Perversion to the European school of otherworldly Black Death metal spearheaded by bands like Grave Miasma or Pseudogod.
