You come to CVLT Nation because we’re always sharing something we want you to check out, but I think you also might come here because you need to check out of your daily grind for a few minutes. There’s so much pressure to conform and say the right things and avoid the right things and climb into the invisible cubicle that keeps us employed and eating, and just a few minutes of music can keep you going in what can feel like an endless, thankless production treadmill. Today I’m putting you on to the first single from CASUAL HEX’s record Zig Zag Lady Illusion II, and it’s called “The System.” It’s a monotone but cutting new wave post-punk dropout anthem that reminds me that if I feel useless, it’s because I’m in a system that’s doing it’s best to squash anything useful I can do. It’s inspiring me to remember the old world skills that live in my bones. Zig Zag Lady Illusion II comes out via Youth Riot Records on June 13 โ get it here They’re hitting the road on some west coast tour dates this June, so check those out below. Right now, check out to the wavy post-punk of CASUAL HEX’s “The System.”
“The System” is a hypnotic lament โ to question societyโs facades and confront the relentless collapse of a broken system.
