What the world needs now is some dreamy music to wrap us in its soundwaves so we can remember that no matter what ugly is unraveling around us, we can always feel something beautiful inside. For me, today, that’s BABEL MAP. I keep hitting replay on this exquisite live rendition of their song “Bubble Tape,” recorded as a part of their Teeth Live Sessions. If you haven’t listened to their record Teeth via Lost Future Records yet, I hope this song compels you to โ and you can get the LP here. “Bubble Tape” reminds me of a dream I had, where I was in a brilliant red underground cavern, floating in a gently rocking white fur-lined pod in the middle of a body of water. I felt safe, comforted, warm, and cozy. I can only describe it as being in the womb of the world, or maybe I was having a fetal flashback โ but that’s what this song sounds like to me. Eerie and surreal but ethereal all at the same time, like I never want to leave it. If you’re in the Lancaster, PA area you can see them live this weekend with Super Vehicle and Fancy Numbers โ info here. Right now, I’m going to hit play on BABEL MAP’s “Bubble Tape” video again, and you should, too.
