What many die-hard genre fans crave is more of a good thing and that’s exactly what we’ve been given by a brand new outfit from Borloo, Australia by the trenchant name LIFE CULT. The perfectly executed 4-track EP by the same name hearkens back to the initial wave of gothic rock a la Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim. There’s nothing outlandish or attention-starved about the musicality, just straight-forward thumping, dirges about ghosts, longing, death, you get the drift.
