I write this from a place of self-acceptance. I write this from a place of love for self. I write this from a place of ancestor worship. I write this from a place where Black stereotypes are meant to be destroyed. I write this from a place of wonderment for the very creative AMILES and their new album Aight So Boom (out now on PTP). For me, listening to their music illuminates my spirit the same way that a James Baldwin or Zora Neale Hurston novel opens our 3rd eyes. This human being creates these ethereal soundwaves that will mesmerize, and their lyrics float on top of them as they invade your brainwaves. If you don’t believe, all you have to do is bump their banger “Eyes Still Red” so that you can hear their brilliance for yourself.
‘Aight So Boom’ is an expression of loveโฆ
Love in anger. Love in mourning. Love in tenderness.
Holding your people with love while growing a love for self.โAlmost a future letter to self,
or a life I foresaw, but had to wait and see through the present moments in re-learning my role and place as an artist.– AMILES
Dedicated to my love for hardcore.
My love for rap.
My love for the songs I sampled – songs that I’ve cried to, and still do if the sun hits at a certain angle while I’m going through it.Iโm happy to be on this side of it in every sense.
– AMILES

As I take in the sonic art of AMILES, what is so evident is that I’m listening to an artist who is truly comfortable in their creative skin! “Headhunters (feat. theOGM)” & “This World’s A Nightmare (feat. Dog Breath)” are two songs that will blow your mind. Aight So Boom is a record that is free of boundaries and will uplift you with each listen. I can’t help but relate to so many of AMILES lyrics. Their word play is grounded in reality and will push you to your unknown future. On the production tip, at times I feel like I’m in the mind of The Egyptian Lover after he just sipped on some purple DJ Screw potion. AMILES does not need any gimmicks to get their point across, because they breathe out the real with every breath. I write this from a place love for Aight So Boom. Their song “untitled” samples Roy Ayers and is an epic ode to our turf, L.A.
