As an admirer of all things horrifying, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon one of the most sickening collections of masks I have seen to date in the form of Chris Marchwinski’s Instagram account, @theparallelca. This LA-based FX artist and sculptor creates the most lifelike monsters and terrifying visages of horror that I’ve had the pleasure of recoiling from. His most prized piece of work seems to be his Succubus, which is a sight to behold indeed – the pastey white skin, mouth full of glistening, rotting fangs and blasphemous forehead brand all make for a truly chilling creature. But I think my favorite part of his work, and his most distinctive pieces, are those bloody, veiny, popping-out, rolled-back eyeballs. Anything with eyes freaks me the fuck out, and those are some of the most disgusting eyes out there. His texturing is immaculate, and all of his masks glisten and drip with monster fluids and victim blood. Above all, these don’t just look like painted pieces of scary latex, they look like real creatures, alive and breathing (or undead and not breathing) and assessing your body and soul for their next meal. All the photos below come from his Instagram page, which I highly recommend following!
