I would not be who I am today without my mom moving us from South Central in 1975 to Venice Beach, CA. Right when I landed on the turf, I found my first love, skateboarding, and everything that came along with it! I was blessed to count the OG Z-Boys as my homies who schooled me on so many levels. I’m talking about Dennis Agnew aka Polar Bear, Sergio, Solo, Froggy, and the list goes on. By the 80s, we had a whole new generation of Venice skate rats. Most of us started to align ourselves with the Hardcore Punk movement but we never stopped skating. I remember the day I saw Natas bust an ollie or the day I saw Gonz show his new trick, a hand plant. I can’t leave out my shy homie, Julien Stranger, who was a gnarly skater on the low but no one knew until one day we all saw him rip shit at the Venice Pavilion. I probably could write a book about how skateboarding has impacted my life.

Right now, I want to share with y’all 10 skate videos that have made me happy to be a part of this global community we call skateboarding. This is not a top 10 all-time favorite list, these are just some visuals that I am into (there will be a part 2). One thing I love about skateboarding in 2024 is how many Black and Brown skaters are straight killing it! Today I’m amplifying visuals from Coast to Coast plus different eras!
